Our church, Gloryland Baptist, in Birmingham, Alabama has a ministry called Central American Missions. This ministry in Honduras is through missionaries Ronnie and Joanne Doss who work very closely with Bro. Graham Hutson from our church. Bro. Doss runs an orphanage that has about 70 children. He also has a Bible Institute that educates national pastors for the ministry. One of the ways that we are able to help is to ship 40 foot containers several times a year with clothes, shoes, and supplies for the orphan home, workers, and national pastors who depend on Bro. Doss. The purpose of this website is to provide updates on ship dates for the container and to provide you with information about the needs of this ministry if you would like to donate items or contribute to this worthy cause. We hope you will prayerfully consider helping us as we accomplish this task.

Walmart has tennis shoes on sale for $3!

Walmart has these tennis shoes on sale for $3! In addition to purchasing the items for the Christmas gifts, the orphanage also is in constant need of other items such as shoes, first aid items, large cookware, hygiene items, etc.  A complete list of needed items is above.  Please be on the lookout for these items as you are out and about shopping!  If you are able, please help us collect as many pairs of these shoes as possible!

We have postponed our ship date to September!!!!

We are postponing our next ship date to September in order to include all Christmas items for the orphanage.  We plan on sending new items, such as toys, shoes, school supplies, and clothing, as Christmas gifts for the children.  We also need to collect new household items, such as kitchenware and small decorative items, to give as gifts to the pastors families.  We usually make individual boxes for each child and an individual box for each national pastor and their families.  However, because of the recent change of plan to send all Christmas items on this shipment, we will send the new items in bulk to the orphanage and let the workers prepare the individual gifts after the shipment is delivered.  I hope this explanation makes sense!  If you would like to donate any items or if you have any questions, please contact us!

WE NEED SHOES!!!!

Bro. Doss communicated that he is completely out of shoes! Please consider having a shoe drive at your church or even ask your family and friends if they have any used shoes they would like to donate.  Many times, places like Dollar General and Walmart will have Croc type shoes or tennis shoes on sale!  Also, if you are out hitting up yard sales, you can ask the people to donate the shoes they do not sale to the Honduras ministry.  Many people are willing because they would simply be donating them to the good will otherwise.  Thank you for all of your interest and help so far! The Lord bless you.

Bro. Doss was finally able to get the container out of customs mid-January.  Pray he can work it out to where he can get the container out hassle-free in the future!  Thank you again to everyone who contributed to the Christmas container.  We are now collecting items for the container that will ship out in April. The Lord always provides!

Container Update

Bro. Doss sent word that the container will not reach the orphanage until Friday.  He had a hard time getting it out of customs and had to pay a great deal of money for it to be released.  We all know Christmas is not all about presents, but children do get excited about opening gifts on Christmas day.  Pray for the children and workers as they celebrate Christmas tomorrow.  May we all be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas and keep our focus on Him.
